Looking back at your Preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?


 
In this first shot I think I have improved from my preliminary to the final product because in the preliminary I was supposed to show he feet but it isn’t in the shot. In the final media product I have succeeded in showing the tires of the car driving off.

In this second shot of my preliminary I have tried to zoom into the characters but as a result it looks horrible. So to improve that, I have used two different shot that I have filmed for my final media product and connected it together to create a zoomed in shot, which looks better.  
 




Lastly, in this preliminary shot I have not filmed it properly and as a result one of the objects is not in the shot. To improve that I have film the car scene properly and got every aspect of the scene in for instance the character and the car.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?


 The different stages that helped me make my media product are the different things that I have learnt in my class. From researching about what suspense movie is to analysing different films, made me understand and gave me ideas about what I wanted and how I wanted my media product to be like. Also, analysing different films and using intertextuality gave me and my group the idea of basing our media product on ‘The Stepfather’.  Moreover, doing an exercise on making a bag swap media product help me understand how to use the camera and what kind of shots to use for different scenes. In addition, analysing the different stages of a film helped me realise what title should be placed in what part of the opening scene.  Moreover, the prelimary exercise that was undertaken by me also helped me realise the different angle shots different ways in which I can use and record the shot. Furthermore, the teaching that I received on how to use Livetype, Soundtrack Por and Final cut gave me and my group the ability to create my media product as well. 


















Audience feedback and comments

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?

 

Using the internet to launch this media product is a good idea as more viewers can watch the clip and like it. It is a good way to advertise the clip and attract a wider range of viewers, this would mean more and more people would come and watch the film. As mine and my groups and the group’s video that I embed on my blog are both low budget production companies, using the internet is a good idea to attract more audience just like how the makers for ‘Looking for Eric’, they didn’t have enough money to advertise their film so they chose to advertise it in the break for a Manchester united film. 

With my media product it will get a cinematic screening which my friends/family and peers will watch, it will also be released on DVD of 200 copies to all of my peers. The film that I have chosen is distributed on ‘YouTube’ to get more people to watch it, is similar to how my media product will be distributed as it will be seem by all of my peers and it will be on my blog. Someone might like the video and distribute it on YouTube. This is a way of getting more global audience. 


This company helps promote new UK talent by screening short films and profiling the makers of the film and providing tools.

Who would be the audience for your media product?


Jeyda karamehmet, a 17 years old full time student, who loves English and wants to be a creative writer or a journalist in the future. Other subjects that she studies at college are ICT and Turkish, from all three subject English is her favourite subject. She loves to read and write poems and read books. She spends her free time with her friends and family. Some of the places where she likes to go is to the cinema, restaurant or to a bar. Being an English student she is very open minded about what she watches and reads. Jeyda mostly watches a lot of comedy films as she has a sense of humour herself but also loves thriller and horror movies. She finds them funny as she does not believe in them and laughs while watching them because they are not true.  

How does your media product represent particular social groups?


The similarities between the opening scene of the stepfather and my groups media product, is that they both have a kitchen scene were both characters are making and eating breakfast. Moreover, another similarity that the both clips have is that, both of the characters get ready and drive off in their verticals. Whilst planning our opening scene we decided to keep most of the opening scene similar to the opening scene in ‘the stepfather’, which we have accomplished. Moreover, both of the clips show the viewer what has happened to actors in the film. For instance, in our clip it shows a little boy being kidnaped and we also hear a voice recording of him shouting. In ‘the stepfather’ they show members of the main characters family dead in the house which he is leaving.


 

However, the differences in the two opening clips are that in the stepfather the first scene in the film is of the area in which the opening scene is set. It shows the viewer the neighbourhood and the names of the people who live in the house which will be introduced. But, our opening scene starts off by a character in our film screaming and telling the audience a little bit of information on what has happened. Moreover, another difference is the way both characters show their identity for instance, in our media product the actor is hiding his identity whereas in ‘the stepfather’ the actor is changing his identity.
